Hi, I’m Ivy

This is my blog, but it’s yours too. Share these posts and feed back to me in the comments section so we can all get the most out this!

What do you think of when you think of exercise? I know I think of sweating profusely and feeling like a hot mess the whole time. I dream to be one of those well-toned athletes with their smooth abs that perform seamlessly at the Olympics despite the hot summer’s days, but in reality I find I can barely walk up stairs without getting out of breath.

So why have I made a fitness blog? Well it’s simple really: to motivate me, and to motivate you!

My name is Ivy, and I was born and raised in the beautiful English seaside resort of Brighton. I am now in my early 20s, but growing up I preferred to read and do puzzles whilst my brother would play football or cricket or rugby. At school, I played outside with my friends when the weather was dry, but as it was England, the many rainy days we had gave me lots of opportunities to get engrossed in another book or board game (I was particularly good at chess). PE was not my strong point and I was much more comfortable solving algebraic equations than I was batting for the rounders team. In short, I preferred the indoors. As I grew older, however, I began to struggle with the stress of exams and the fast-paced life of University. So I decided it was time to do something I had intentionally avoided my whole life; RUN.

“But Ivy, I thought this was not a runner’s blog?”

You, right now, probably

Well. You thought right. I quickly decided running was not for me. I considered it boring and I often found myself worried about what the other, more professional-looking runners thought of me struggling my way along the seafront. So, like the book nerd I am, I solemnly swore to never run again (at least not just for fun). But I knew finding some way to keep my body and mind healthy was important, so naturally I turned to the internet to find something way more interesting than just putting one foot in front of the other. And what did I find? So very little. And I thought, ‘OK, people like me need people like me to help them!’ And so, here we are now…
